Hazelnut with the story

Our Little Story

Hazelnut has been the most important agricultural export product in Anatolia for more than 6 centuries, and Turkey meets 70% of hazelnut production in the world.

Hazelnut cultivation is carried out mainly in the provinces of Ordu, Giresun and Sakarya, throughout the Black Sea, Artvin, Rize, Trabzon, Gümüşhane, Samsun, Sinop, Kastamonu, Bartin, Zonguldak, Bolu, Düzce and Kocaeli.

Especially in Ordu and Giresun, since the land isn’t suitable for any other economic agricultural products, virtually the only source of income is hazelnut. Therefore, when the income from the hazelnut production didn’t meet the growth of population and hence people couldn’t earn a living, so many people had to immigrate to the big cities in Turkey such as İstanbul.
